Building Inspections

The building inspector's mission is to ensure commercial buildings and residential homes that are constructed, altered, or maintained in the City of Castroville meet recognized standards for quality of life and building safety. The City reviews plans and inspects construction to enforce of the International Building Codes.

Services :

  • Process applications for building permits.
  • Review plans for all remodeling and new construction.
  • Conduct inspections.
  • Respond to citizen complaints regarding non-permitted structures and work.
  • Share information on construction procedures and code requirements.

Building Codes

The City of Castroville uses the 2006 International Building Codes.

Building Permits

The Building Inspector is available for permit review and or inspections as needed through appointments scheduled by the Public Works Secretary. Please call to set up a meeting to discuss any issues concerning building permits.

Obtain Building Permit

You may download the required Information Sheet to submit in person at the Public Works Department. The Building Department will respond with what steps will be involved in obtaining your building permit.
